French....

Being in the wedding industry has allowed me to meet some really cool people. About a year ago Natalie and I were able to meet Anne-Marie, owner of The French Bouquet in Tulsa.

She creates some of most beautiful floral pieces I've ever seen. Well as luck would have it, I've been able to get to know Anne-Marie better and learn more about her style and vision. I can tell everyone, the she has some really sweet ideas.

Anyway, I've been photographing some of her creations for an art book. This arrangement really caught my eye so I thought I would post it for everyone else to enjoy!

Playing around...

You know what's so great about being a photographer? Besides having lots of fun taking pictures, I get to have lots of fun editing (processing) images. Yes this is fun to me. Everyone has something about themselves they would like to change. Now this girl, Kelly, is just about perfect. Nice eyes, bright teeth, and good hair, so I can play around without offending her.

Today I was working on Eyes. If you ever look at the AD's in a magazine, or walk by the cosmetics counter at Dillards, the first thing you notice about the ad's is the Eyes of the models.

Do you think they are natural? They aren't. Every now and then I'll see someone walking down the street with really memorable eyes. It happens say 2 or 3 times a year. As a photographer you want to pull them to the side and beg them to let you take a picture. The problem, no camera, no studio, no lighting.... the list goes on.

Well I can process my images in such a way to create those memorable eyes. What makes an eye memorable? To start it must be SHARP. The viewer needs to see the detail in the eye. It must have white's, deep color and a black pupil. This sounds good, but look at the eyes of those around you, more then likely they have a little red in them... Now on a shoot I might suggest we use some Visine to get the red out. A complete pun is intended.

However when I process an image, I'll take the red out. I'll make the pupil black and brighten the iris. On Kelly here I have done just that. I have worked to make the eyes stand out against the background. In addition I have also worked with her skin a little bit. Given her lips some extra color and brightened her teeth. Finally I added some brown highlights to her hair to help it stand out a little.

Again, she didn't need this to look beautiful, but I wanted to see what would happen. I like the final. This heavy processing isn't needed and I don't do it a lot, but for those who always wished to have perfect skin or bright eyes like a model, I make it happen.

WOW awesome day!

Today I had another shoot for Kelly. If you look below I did some headshots for her a couple of weeks ago. Well Kelly went to her auditions and got 2 call backs. Way to go Kelly! I like to think it's because of the AWESOME images, but I know it's all Kelly...

Well she and I went back out to Tulsa today with a friend of hers, Annie, for a few fashion shots. Like always I had more ideas then I had time for. This is good and bad, see when I have ideas, my clients benefit because I shoot until I get what I want. This could be as short as two exposures, but more then likely it's two hours :)

I had a blast and both Kelly and Annie where great to work with. Kelly really knows how to play to the camera and Annie has a very calm and natural personality that is really easy to photograph. Well easy to photograph if you can keep her from laughing so much, that's another story.

Anyway, here is a shot from both. I have over 300 exposures to go through and wanted to get something up tonight.

Enjoy!

Abelina's Bridal In Brookside...

I've been telling all my brides about this really cool new bridal store that has recently opened In Brookside. Abelina's Bridal is a very contemporary bridal store offering a wide selection of Bridal gowns. This past week I took 5 of the very beautiful dresses out and we did some promotional shots for the store to use in their advertising and to decorate their store.

The day was a ton of fun and really challenged my creativity. I had ideas of what I wanted but putting that together isn't always as easy as I would think. Anyway, Here is the first edited shot.

If you want to learn about Abelina's Bridal or contact them to find your special gown, give them a call at 918-398-8175. You can also visit them on the web at //AbelinasBridal.com

Be sure to check back as I'll be posting more of their wedding dresses after I complete post processing.

When to: Engagement Sessions

I recently received a question from a bride regarding the proper time to take engagement pictures. I wanted to post my response in case others have the same question.

Hello,

Engagement sessions don't have a set timeline. Some of my couple want to send 'save-the-date' cards to their guests. This increased the attendance on popular wedding weekends.

Some couples, however, have their engagement session just months before the wedding day. I try to determine the style of engagement images desired. For more vibrant sessions Spring or early Summer work better. Urban sessions work anytime, while others want a winter look that requires November - February sessions.

Understanding the look desired, allows me to make some suggestions on the time of year we should use.

Senior Announcements...

I've always looked for ways to help my clients separate themselves from everyone else. One way to do this is with unique Graduation Announcements featuring images from their Senior Session. Our clients have the option to chose from square 5x5 or standard 4x8 cards.

These cards are customized with the date of graduation and the school. Any special information can be added as the client desires.

Here are three options for Marli who will be graduating in May. If you would like to know more about our customized announcements or have your own design, give me a call and we'll schedule your session.

Louisiana Senior Session...

This is Marli. She is a beautiful senior who I had the pleasure to work with today for her senior portraits. Like the other clients she too wanted something different. I was happy to take the time to create something trule unique. Fashion photography isn't really big in my home town and I took this oppurtunity to add a little fashion to the classic senior portrait.

Here are for of my favorites that really show her beauty!
