Light tricks...

This weekend I had got to shoot a wedding with Chris Moseley from Dallas, Texas. Chris was in Tulsa for a private wedding and asked if I could some along and assist. The wedding was a great event and I'm very pleased with the resulting images. I hope he is.

One image was a ton of fun from the time the Bride and Groom were dancing. I really like the effects you can create with lights.

Weeks go fast!

This week has moved quickly. Just Monday I was in Houston, Texas with Natalie's family. Now it's Friday and the week is over. I have the opportunity to assist another photographer Saturday afternoon/evening here in Tulsa. It would be a great wedding, however I have a session Saturday morning and this is my last free weekend through the end of the year.

With the holiday's and our current commissions, Natalie and I will be busy every weekend through 12/31. I just can't believe it. We are so thankful to all of our clients for keeping us busy.

Anyway, I did use some travel time to my advantage. I was able to creat my opening page as well as redesign my business cards for the 2006 season to match the visual theme I wanted. I've included my card images for you to see...

Great Wedding...

This past Saturday I had the great pleasure of working with Vic Whitmore of Studio 9 (www.s9photo.com) as an assistant shooter for his wedding. The event took place at the First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Ceremony started at 7:00 PM and was followed by an amazing reception at the Mid-Continent building on the 15th floor.

The couple were great to work with, but I did have some interesting discussions with the Brides Maids.... One of them noted how I was "Picture Happy" and taking pictures of their shoes, necklaces, flowers, etc.. It made me stop and think about all of the effort the girls and the Bride put into choosing all of the details of their wedding. Why wouldn't I take pictures of all those details.

The brides maid agreed that it did take her about 3 weeks to find the right shoes and then appreciated me creating the image for her to laugh at and remember.

The wedding was a huge success and a blast of a time. As I sit back and remember the day it all moved so fast, but I'm so thankful I have all of these great images to remember my personal experiences. I hope the Bride and Groom enjoy remembering as much as I do.

You can see Vic's work and learn more about him by visiting his website at www.s9photo.com. Vic is a great Photographer.

The work continues...

Well the work continues on my website. I now have both up and running but they aren't all connected to each other yet. The goal is you can visit www.JesseReich.com and chose to visit either of the Photography sites (Wedding or Portrait) or chose to visit Take 5 Video.

I have a master plan for the welcome page, but time is short and I have a number of other projects needing attention. For the time being, I continue to work on everything and we'll see how it goes.

YAHOO!!! The new site it up!

Yep my new website is up and running. I'm so happy. I'll be tweaking it over the next week for some minor issue, but it's up and working.

There are a few suprises that will coming along soon... Look for some additions over the next 3 weeks. I'm working on a way to combine my Video and Photography sites.

One thing I've learned is to keep it fresh and that's what I'm trying to do. If anyone feels like commenting on the new site, feel free.

Visit the new site!

Almost ready....

I'm so excited. My new website is almost ready. Unlike many I do most of my web work. This time I've been just too busy, so I had a designer build the site and I've been creating all the content, including the portfolio section.

Anyway, I'm super pumped up about everything and it will be on Saturday. Be sure to stop by and give it a good looking over. The primary site is dedicated to non-wedding related services. A Wedding website will be along shortly.

One think I'm going to do is link all of my site together. This way you can go from Photography to Videography... We'll see how it works out for me.

New toys

Don't you just love new toys? I know I do... As a photographer a new lens is a BIG deal. Well last week I got a BIG lens. A Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS.... This is a very popular lens for Canon photographers. It's good because it is long (200mm) and fast (f/2.8) and has Image stabilization (IS). These are very important to producing great images for my clients. A long lens allows me to get back from the action and just observe what's going on. These images are known as Photojournalistic in style, the documentation of life.

Now the f/2.8 notes how much light is allowed through the lens with the best be f/1 (these are no longer made due to cost). The average consumer lens is between f/3.5 - f/5.6. Think of it this way, your standing in the bright sun, you squint to see better.... this is the same thing you lens does and this is called the f/stop.

Well the best feature about this new lens is the IS. These lens' are heavy and after hauling them around all day, your photographer gets tired. The IS is way to offset the movement of my tired arms and keep the image nice and sharp when I'm not using a tripod. Canon has really helped the photographer with this single feature.

Photographers don't need all of these cools lens' to make great images, but just like any professional having the right tool for the job does help. Well I'm going to play with my new toy and see what photographs I can create.

Have a great day!

Great wedding....

These are some pictures from a great wedding. The couple were just amazing and the party was one of the best of the season. Have a great day!

Just a few weddings...

Wow have I've been busy. For those that I owe a phone call, I'm sorry I haven't been able to get back to you. I promise to catch up.

This past weekend we had two very long weddings. These however were Videography weddings and not Photography. As I've said before, Natalie and I own Take 5 Video and specialize in unique and custom wedding videography for Tulsa. We thought that only doing 25 weddings a year would be easier on us, however it seems we got 25 really BIG weddings.

I put in a 11 hour day on Saturday. After I finished my wedding at McBirney mansion, I moved to Dresser Mansion where I took over so Natalie could go home. It's safe to say we were both busy.

Sunday was a great day. I got to work with Kelly and Venn. Venn needed some model shoots to send in for a talent agency. After we knocked them out, I looked at his girlfriend, Kelly and told her she couldn't leave until we got a few of here too.

She was a little reluctant at first, but I was able to make her comfortable and I got some great shots. She is a very beautiful model...

I thought I would post a few...

Time to get wet; Engagements with personality

Have I said I love what I do? If I havent' I need to. I really love what I do. Today I had an engagement session with a great couple.Sarah and Brandon were a joy to work with. The session started on a delay due to a wedding at 10:00 AM Friday morning. Now I've heard of lots, but never a wedding that early on a Friday. They had two very large Limo's so I know the wedding party must have been huge...

Anyway, we got started and just had a ball. The weather was nice and Sarah and Brandon both had great smiles. The day finished with get jumping into the water fountains at the Tulsa Historical Society. (The mansion just beside the Rose Garden Mansion).

Well we had a great time. I thought I would post a few of my favorites for everyone to enjoy!

Friday's...

Friday's are the best, I mean the week is over and you have two days of just relaxing and enjoying life... I wish. Fridays are the beginning of my work week. Granted it's only two days long, Friday and Saturday, but it is a very busy two days.

Today I had an engagement session for a couple not getting married until mid 2006. They were a hoot and I'll post more about them later, but whats on my mind now is the two HUGE weddings we have tomorrow. On the video front, my wife and I will both be shooting big weddings. Mine is an 8 hour day while hers is 7 hours.

The preassure for one wedding isn't bad, a long wedding isn't bad, but two long weddings can give you gray hairs. We want to do the best job for of our brides and we really push ourselves to make sure we do just that.

My wedding will be on the TU campus at Sharp with the reception at McBirney Mansion. It will be a fun wedding but a very long day.

Natalie will be at the Dresser Mansion all day. Just one location for her... boy is she lucky.

Well I'll have to post the video's when we get them edited.

On a lighter note I had a fun time in the studio last night. Our baby sitter, who is also a senior at Jenks HS came over and of course I got her to pose for me.

If you come to my house/studio, I'll do my best to take your picture so be ready!

Friends....

You can never tell a friend Thanks often enough... This evening I had some friends stop by the house. I got to meet Steve and Courtney through church. Steve is the youth minister and Courtney saw a need to help girls remain "master pieces" through her own ministry, ID Ministries.

I do work for ID Ministries on the Video side. I'm very lucky to have been able to create a DVD that Courtney now gives out that explaines her ministry and it's need. Anyway, Courtney needed to get some more demo DVD's so I called and said they were ready.

I was happy to hear they would be able to drop by this evening because we have two weddings on Saturday and a rehearsal dinner Friday night... Well when they got to my home/studio I had a complete High Key backdrop setup and said they had to pause for one picture. They are a great couple.

Courtney thought she looked bad, it may just be me but I think they both looked great.

Don't miss an opportunity to tell a friend "Thanks!"

Sweet Bridal Session

I had a really sweet bridal session about three weeks ago. SISTERS!! I couldn't believe it, but they asked if I could shoot both together. Of course I said yes. I couldn't believe I would have two beautiful girls in wedding dresses that would pose however I wanted.

Anyway we worked with the Tulsa Rose Garden and then went downtown to my favorite spots. It was hoot. I thought I would post a few for everyone to enjoy.

If you would like to have some unique and creative images be sure to give me a call. I just love what I do!

First Senior Photo Mailer...

I'm almost ready to make my first mailer for Senior Photo's. I believe I'm going to change my pricing structure so that everything is a simple package that includes prints, setting fee and a folio (simple album with large prints).

Currently everything is by the hour allowing my clients to buy the print they want not be forced into buying sizes they won't display. I find that seniors like packages... More to come on what my decision is...

Here is the 5x7 post card I'm mailing out.

Halloween proofs up!

I love working with couples...

I just love working with couples. When they call to have their engagement sessions they always ask about how long it will take and if I'll make them do anything weird... I always say it'll be painless and I won't pose them if they don't want me to.

As we work through the session everyone becomes more comfortable and then it happens.... the perfect image is right before me, the one that truly shows their love for each other... I just love it.

I got to work with Amber and Aaron and they were a great couple who are getting married next May. This engagement session was a blast and I'm very please with the final results. I've posted some for you to enjoy too.

A few Senior Shots...

I worked with a great Senior a few weeks ago, she was very camera friendly and did anything I asked. I like working in downtown Tulse because of all the beautiful architecture. I really don't see many who venture downtown, but I walk around a lot and find some great places.

Anyway, Kelsey was very open to the downtown setting so away we went. I'm attaching three of my many favorites from this shoot.

Seniors, time to plan!

I'm so excited! I just spoke to some of my friends who have a senior this year at Broken Arrow High School. Looks like I'll get to take some senior portraits for her. I'll be sure to post these images as soon as I can.
